Company:
Playside Studios (Contracted to Spin Master)
Engine:
Unity and Playfab
Description:
Hatchtopia Life was a project I was assigned to while working at Playside. This was a head-first introduction to live ops for me, with many complex systems talking to each other. Being a completely online game, I had to learn Playfab and Javascript on the fly, as well as learn how to make latent-compatible code. I was proud of my efforts; managing to create a fully online, server authoritive experience without much visible delay to the user.
There was another major technical hurdle with this product, it had to be compatible with the toys that Spin Master were making alongside us. Building on the fundamentals that the senior/lead engineers developed, I had the task of making toy codes redeemable via the Playfab service - letting users claim their toys in the app.
